Giving Back and Reducing Waste: How Doggy Bathroom Supports Animal Shelters

Creating Comfort From What Could Be Waste

At Doggy Bathroom, we believe thoughtful design goes beyond the product itself. It’s also about what happens when a product can’t be sold. That’s why we’ve launched a program that transforms slightly damaged Doggy Bathrooms into custom bedding and shelters for animals in need—keeping them out of landfills and putting them to good use.

Instead of discarding units with cosmetic flaws, we give them a new purpose—bringing comfort to animals in shelters and rescues.

Partnering With Bedgear to Expand Our Impact

To amplify our efforts, we teamed up with Bedgear, a company known for high-performance bedding. Through this partnership, we receive unsellable pillows that would otherwise be discarded. We pair them with repurposed Doggy Bathrooms to create soft, secure, and supportive shelter beds for animals of all sizes.

It’s a sustainable win-win: fewer materials wasted and more animals supported.

Our initiative was recently featured in national media. You can read more about our shelter efforts on Cision and see the full press release on PR Newswire.

Designed With All Animals in Mind

Our upcycled Doggy Bathrooms have supported a wide range of animals beyond small dogs. From rabbits and chickens to pigs and senior cats, shelters have found innovative ways to use them:

  • For smaller animals, the unit can be flipped upside down and used as a shelter, creating a safe and cozy den-like space.
  • For larger animals, we place a Bedgear pillow inside the Doggy Bathroom, transforming it into a soft resting area.

Each bed is assembled thoughtfully to provide comfort, stability, and a much-needed sense of security.

Purpose Beyond Products

While our focus is helping dogs live more comfortably indoors with tools like the Doggy Bathroom, this initiative reflects our larger mission: reducing waste and creating meaningful change through design.

Giving damaged products a second life helps minimize landfill impact and channels resources where they’re needed most. It’s a simple act of responsibility that supports both animals and the environment.

We’re proud to contribute to the wellbeing of animals in need—and we’ll continue looking for new ways to give back through smart, sustainable choices.
