8 Ways to Have Summer Fun with Your Dog
Ahhhh, summer is finally here, and there’s only one little guy who loves summer more than me: my pup! Even if your office is pet-friendly (with all its benefits), nothing beats summer walks. Dogs love to run freely in the warm weather without the hindrances of snow, ice or rain, and there are lots of ways you and your hound can bond during the warmer months. Here’s how:
Go to a dog café. Yes, they’re all over the place: great little eateries that welcome our fur babies with open arms… er, paws. Some are outfitted with activity areas for dogs where they can run around, play, and interact with other pups. Otherwise, you can always enjoy a nice meal on an outdoor terrasse where your pet can hang out with you.
Find a pet-friendly beach. There’s something about the water and sand that dogs absolutely love. They present new sensations for your pup to run around on, swim in, and more. Plus, you’ll have a relaxing place to catch up on some R&R.
Go geocaching. Your furry friend will love being your inspecting sidekick as you search for hidden treasures together.
Cool off. Hoses and sprinklers can be a hot pooch’s best friend, and you’ll love watching him/her getting some relief from the heat.
Check out a drive-in movie. Yes, you can still find cosy little drive-in movies to watch, and the best part is: you can bring Fido with you! Curl up and take in a good flick, and don’t forget the snacks!
Visit an outdoor market. Ensure that pets are allowed to meander with you, and if they can, they’ll love the sights and smells of a great fruit and veggie market. Plus, you can get some shopping done.
Camping. Your dog will love spending time in the great outdoors as much as you do.
Start a walking group. Join local pet-owners and meet up for a fun walk altogether.
Summer is the perfect season to create lasting memories with your beloved pup! From exploring dog-friendly cafés to enjoying sunny days at pet-friendly beaches, the opportunities for bonding are endless. Embark on outdoor adventures like geocaching and camping, or cool off together with hoses and sprinklers. Cuddling up at a drive-in movie can also add extra fun to your summer escapades. Don't forget to check out outdoor markets and start walking groups with fellow pet owners for even more shared experiences. Embrace the warmth of summer and cherish these moments of joy and companionship with your canine companion!
